Southern Maryland Aquatics is a year-round competitive swim team based in La Plata, MD. We offer high quality professional coaching and technique instruction for all ages and abilities. The goal of our team is to provide every member an opportunity to improve swimming skills and achieve success at his or her level of ability. We practice at Lackey High School and St. Charles High School in Charles County Maryland.

Swim meet a month, on average

Bronze
Our entry-level group. All four strokes, breathing, lane etiquette, the pace clock, starts and turns.
Silver
Refining all four legal strokes, building strength and endurance, and perfecting starts and turns.
Gold
More intense training for middle school swimmers, preparing for the 500 freestyle and 200 IM.
Elite
Our most competitive high school swimmers, chasing USA motivational times and qualifying meets.
Coached by lifelong swimmers
Head Coach Jeff Carbone has led SMDA since the fall of 2021. Our staff includes former college swimmers, high school coaches, a Lackey High School record holder and a strength and conditioning coach, all on deck to help every Trident reach their goals.
